Paragraph on The Natural Disasters in Bangladesh

The Natural Disasters in Bangladesh

The devastations of natural disasters are the lashes of Mother Nature that every year hit us with a whip. Droughts, floods, cyclones frequently attack
our poor country tearing her to shreds. Though these are natural disasters, we are responsible to some extent for the catastrophic causes made by them.

First and foremost cause is that we have polluted our Mother Nature so badly that nature turns back on us. Secondly, we are an illiterate nation. We do not know how we can defend ourselves against these natural calamities. And third factor is that we are one of poorest countries in the world. So, even if we have brains we cannot make them effective .That is why, every year we face food and habitation problem, which causes diseases like diarrhoea and dysentery. Then we face droughts which damage our crops and we confront again food problem. The most adverse devastations are caused by cyclones which do not strike every year but come frequently. And the trial which we are to face by these cyclones can not be measured. Recently hurricane Sidr hit the coastal districts, particularly Khulna and Barisal, as it started crossing the country from northern Bay of Bengal with high tidal surge and strong winds of over 200 km per hour. Really, Bangladesh dated with a nightmare as Sidr ripped through the southwestern coast on November 15, 2007. And the tidal waves due to Sidr swept away hundreds of thousands of people. The violent cyclone also demolished our houses, crops and trees and destroyed our mangrove forest, the Sunderbans. The coastal islands were flashed with sea water, and river links were closed. The cyclone snapped all communications and utility services also. So, we face the reversal effects of Mother Nature every year in the shape of natural disasters.
