So, water started increasing everywhere which created inevitable flood. And I had the chance to see the unbearable sufferings that can be caused by flood. The pangs of hunger and diseases and want of drinking water seemed to have no end. Diarrhoea and dysentery broke out like epidemic. Relief goods that the villagers could manage were too inadequate and it did not reach even fifty percent of the victims. To ensure food supply, local people demanded immediate relief. The flood caused extensive damage to households, personal belongings, cattle and crops. The rehabilitation and reconstruction process was meager and slow. Thousands of people of the village were homeless. Many people had to spend their night in roads and highways. The pathetic pangs of the water logged people made me depressed and thoughtful. How hapless and helpless we are in front of the natural calamities that cause intolerable sufferings each year!
