Women Education
Human is the only rational being in the world. And this rationalism is established only through education. Education enhances our rational attitude to carry out our social responsibilities. Now is this enlightened awareness necessary only for men? Don’t women play any role in socio-economic development?
Investment in education for women will give us the answers. Surely educating both men and women will increase the economic and social development in all other sectors. So, girls’ education cannot be isolated from other development activities. The poor socio-economic condition of Bangladesh is a bar to women education. If both the government and the people of the country become cautious, our social and economic development will be faster. Countrywide national propaganda and awareness is necessary for spreading women education. The fruits of girls’ education will help to educate themselves. First of all, educated women will be self-reliant than those who have no schooling. They will be able to earn to add to their family income. Educated mothers are likely to send both their boys and girls to school. A literate mother can build a literate nation. Thus the impact of educating girls is beneficial to future generation.Education can grow awareness among women folks. Thus they can develop their knowledge of health, nutrition and population control. If they become educated, they can live a healthy and planned life. Women are almost half of the total population of Bangladesh. Without the help of our women, no overall social and economic development is possible. The development process will be quickened only when the girls are educated.Educated women will have a wide range of professions. Thus they can directly involve in increasing economic productivity. So, failing to educate girls results in a waste of human resources. Therefore, education is one of the main factors to fulfill human needs. And it is essential for any kind of development. Both male and female are related to socio-economic development. So, there should not be any gender discrimination regarding women education.Government has taken different steps to improve and promote women education. Tuition fees up to degree level for girls have been free. In every sector of professions 30% women quota are given. Different NGOs also are encouraging women education. UNICEF distributes reading and writing materials among girls students. Thus both government and non-government organizations are trying to promote women education.
